Iolite is also known as the water sapphire and the Viking's compass, and one of the unique features of the iolite gemstone is its tendency to transform colors when viewed at different angles - a trait known as pleochroism. Iolite strengthens the resolve to take on responsibility and carry through, and provides self-assurance and endurance in adverse situations.
Iolite is not a traditional birthstone. There is no zodiac sign associated with this stone, though Pisces will be calmed by its lively colors, and it will help Aries to think more creatively.
